PERSONAL MAIL POLICY

The Taney County Jail will only allow inmates to receive pre-metered, plain, white postcards suc as the type purchased from the post office. Postcards with stamps attached to them will be returned to sender. Postcards with stickers (return address or other) or foreign substances (i.e. scents, lipstick, hair, etc.) will be returned to sender. Mail that does not comply with these guidelines will be rejected and a "Mail Rejection"" form will be completed and given to the inmate. The rejected mail will be returned to sender and a notation will be made in the inmate's file. Mail that contains contraband of an unlawful nature will be turned over to the appropriate law enforcement agency for investigation.
Outgoing mail is collected daily by jail staff and placed in the mailbox in booking. The officer will make sure proper postage has been applied and the return address is filled out by the inmate.
Sending or receiving personal mail by any method other than that stated above is a violation of facility rules. Underground mail (passing of notes) to anyone is forbidden.
