Taney County Environmental Services
Taney County is blessed with its wonderful water resources. These resources are rather delicate and environmentally sensitive. It is the goal of the Environmental Services Department to do all things necessary and within its ability to protect these water resources and educate the public in order to maintain safe drinking water supplies, maintain a water quality safe for recreational use and protect the economic benefit that the area lakes, creeks and streams provide for Taney County.
The Environmental Services Department manages the Onsite Wastewater System Program for Taney County. This includes the review of applications, issuance of permits and inspection of construction work pertaining to the installation of new systems or the repair of an existing system.
The Environmental Services Department also assists the incorporated areas of the County in maintaining their wastewater infrastructure through the County's Wastewater System Improvement Funding Agreement Program.
Other services provided by the Environmental Services Department include the following:
- Environmental compliant investigation
- Meeting with groups or individuals to discuss environmental issues
- Technical assistance regarding onsite wastewater systems, wells and water supply matters, private centralized wastewater system operation and maintenance, and other environmental issues in general
Our Mission Statement
Whereas the pollution of the waters of Taney County constitutes a menace to public health and welfare, creates a public nuisance, is harmful to wildlife, fish and aquatic life and impairs domestic, economic, agricultural, recreational and other legitimate and important uses of water; and so, therefore, it is hereby declared to be the mandate of the Taney County Environmental Services Department to conserve the waters of Taney County and to protect, maintain and improve the quality thereof for public water supplies and domestic, economic, agricultural, recreational and other legitimate beneficial uses and for the propagation of wildlife, fish and aquatic life.
